Jeremy Walsh, Owner
Jeremy grew up with his feet in the soil and his hands in the vines. He is a third generation grape whisperer raised on the family’s Marlborough vineyard.
Jeremy took over the management of the business in 2005 after his father had a motorbike accident. This practical experience, complemented by a Diploma in Viticulture and Oenology (Wine Science) has given Jeremy a real-world understanding of vineyard management with solid theoretical knowledge to draw on.
Jeremy is ably assisted by Shane Speakman who brings a wealth of technical knowledge and viticulture experience to the business.
Shane Speakman, Viticulturist
Growing up on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island Shane followed an early career path into hospitality, interlaced with sales roles with some of New Zealand’s leading liquor distribution companies. These formative career experiences provided Shane with the skills that allowed him to go on to lead some of New Zealand’s largest viticultural teams, and also led to the vineyard side of the industry becoming the passion and focus that Shane still holds strong today.
A mid-career change saw Shane complete a Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology degree at Lincoln University, moving to Marlborough in 2004.
In Marlborough, Shane rose through the ranks in both the vineyard management and technical teams, ending up the leader of a large, high performing viticulture team with people based in Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, and Marlborough, and with growers in all of NZ’s key wine-growing regions including Central Otago.
Shane brings a no-nonsense, practical approach to viticulture, and has experience with both large scale corporate, and more boutique viticulture businesses.
